Job Description

Be the first smile they see. Be the momentum behind great matches.

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (1-hour lunch) | Compensation: $13/hour

At Express, the day starts with you. Doors open, phones light up, and candidates arrive hopeful. As our Candidate Experience & Reception Lead, you set the tone—welcoming each person within 10 seconds of entering, answering calls quickly, and moving applicants smoothly from hello to hired. You’ll blend hospitality with precision, keeping our front office polished and our applicant flow on point.

A Day in This Role

8:00 a.m. — Greet the first visitor with a warm welcome. Answer incoming calls promptly, determine needs, resolve questions, and route as needed. Document 100% of inquiry calls in the Express automated system—create the inquiry, open the workforce record, and schedule or pass the interview.

Mid-morning — Keep the in-person applicant flow moving efficiently, ensuring a 5‑star customer experience. Assign interviews and orientations to Employment Specialists, enter application data accurately, file paperwork, and administer skills evaluations—coaching applicants to completion.

Afternoon — Support recruiting: conduct initial applicant inquiries by phone, transfer to an Employment Specialist or schedule for later, and make outbound calls to new applicant lists provided by the Recruiting Specialist. Aim for 25 inquiry calls weekly with a 90% show rate.

All day — Maintain a professional, organized front office. Prepare mailings, update lists, protect confidential documents, collect timecards, assist with payroll questions and processing, and hand out checks to associates. Keep supplies, forms, and orientation packs stocked.

Throughout — Manage our text-messaging platform: send reminders for scheduled and missed interviews and monitor incoming messages from applicants and associates.

Standards You’ll Uphold
  • Create a positive first impression for every in-person and telephone inquiry.
  • Answer calls quickly; assess needs; provide answers or route calls appropriately.
  • Document applications and related contact details in the system accurately and on time.
  • Assist with job fairs at Express or offsite locations as needed and support other recruiting efforts.
  • Conduct business in line with all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational guidelines.
  • Adhere to Express systems and policies; build strong knowledge of Express staffing and placement services.
  • Maintain an understanding of employment-related documents and materials and stay current on federal and state employment regulations.
Grow With Us
  • Meet regularly with your Team Leader and/or Franchisee for coaching and development.
  • Use Situational Leadership language in meetings.
  • Prepare reports and provide activity metrics ahead of scheduled meetings.
  • Commit to a quarterly Individual Development Plan (IDP).
  • Perform other related duties as necessary and assigned.
What You Bring
  • Calm under pressure; able to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment and handle a high volume of calls.
  • Ability to type while holding a phone conversation; strong typing and data entry skills.
  • Technical aptitude and eagerness to learn new platforms.
  • Team-first approach with excellent interpersonal skills; strong communication and organization.
  • Consistent performance and goal achievement; business acumen with a “big picture” mindset.
  • Integrity, authenticity, and healthy feedback habits; compassion for teammates, job seekers/associates, and client representatives.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth; represent the Express Employment Professionals brand positively.
